We’re looking for a Compliance Officer to lead on recruitment and onboarding processes and ensure every tutor we work with is fully prepared to deliver high-impact tuition. You’ll need to be detail-focused, proactive, and confident working across systems and people, with a commitment to safeguarding and student success.
Location: London/Birmingham (Hybrid)
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday). We can discuss flexible working patterns, e.g., school hours, as needed.
Salary:£31,000 (including £2,000 London weighting.)
Contract: Permanent

About the role
We are seeking a proactive and diligent Compliance Officer to join our Recruitment and Operations team. You will be responsible for providing a robust compliant onboarding service for all successful applicants to our awardwinning Tutoring Programmes; ensuring all candidates are ready and fully eligible to start their delivering tuition sessions in colleges across the country. The ideal candidate will oversee the end-to-end onboarding process and ensure all pre-employment checks meet the standards required by Get Further and safer recruitment practices.
In this varied role, you will:
- Lead the end-to-end onboarding process for tutors, ensuring all pre-employment checks — including Right to Work, enhanced DBS, safeguarding declarations, references, and social media checks — are completed accurately, securely, and on time.
- Maintain high standards of compliance and data protection, keeping records in line with GDPR and safer recruitment requirements.
- Own the tutor offboarding process where needed, ensuring consistent and compliant closure of records.
- Oversee tutor communications during onboarding, responding promptly to enquiries via the shared mailbox and providing clarity on next steps.
- Coordinate with College HR departments, issuing assurance letters and compliance documentation to support tutor placements.
- Manage tutor training bookings, safeguarding checks, and cross-team collaboration to ensure smooth onboarding and placement readiness.
- Work closely with the Head of Recruitment to align onboarding activity with Get Further’s five-year strategy and organisational goals.
- Manage the onboarding budget effectively, ensuring resources are allocated responsibly and with impact.

You’ll need to be detail-focused, confident managing sensitive information, and highly organised in juggling multiple tasks and timelines.
Essential:
- Passionate about tackling educational inequality
- Experience managing onboarding, compliance, or safer recruitment processes
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow safeguarding and GDPR procedures precisely
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially when managing sensitive enquiries
- Comfortable working independently and proactively across multiple systems and deadlines
- Skilled in using Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Able to maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling sensitive data (e.g. DBS, references, RTW)
Desirable:
- Experience using Salesforce or a similar CRM system
- Familiarity with safer recruitment policies and procedures
- Understanding of the Further Education or charity sector
- Interest in developing a long-term career in operations, compliance, or safeguarding
