Our Impact

TUITION PROGRAMME

We have a demonstrable track record of achieving positive impact for the students and colleges we partner with:

“I honestly don’t think I would have been able to pass without Get Further. Now I will be able to focus solely on Health and social care to get my qualifications and hopefully go to uni.”

Get Further launched in 2018, after winning the Teach First Innovation Award – a nationwide competition to find the best new ideas to tackle education inequality. Following a successful pilot programme working with 150 students, we have scaled our work significantly in 20-21 to support over 1,000 young people to get back on track after the disruption from Covid-19 to their education.

8,000 TUITION SESSIONS

With extra help from a Get Further tutor, students are more likely to gain a grade C/4 at GCSE and have greater opportunities for progression in their chosen career.

“I passed my GCSE Maths exam… thank you again for all your help, I couldn’t have done it without the Get Further programme… I’m going to University to study a degree in Education as I want to be a primary school teacher.”

GCSE Resit Curriculum and Professional Development Programme

At Get Further, we also offer support directly to college and sixth form teachers through our research-based GCSE maths resit curriculum for further education. This curriculum has been designed specifically by expert teachers for students who are continuing to study GCSE maths in further education or sixth form, with a focus on ensuring a strong foundation in fundamental maths skills that will continue to support them in the future and beyond life at college.

The curriculum package includes:

  • A scheme of work, tailored to the college’s timetable and cohort needs;
  • All lesson materials (full slides, worksheets and assessments) and;
  • An accompanying teacher professional development programme, with recommended strategies to support teachers to deliver the curriculum to maximum effect.

For colleges who use the curriculum, there is a demonstrable improvement in progress and attainment. During the curriculum pilot, 80% of young people improved their scores after three months of teaching – and assessment results were significantly higher for the cohort than the previous year.

“Using the Get Further resources has been a privilege this academic year. The format of the lessons have been clear and concise for our students – allowing them to know what to expect from their lessons. As a teacher, I feel that the resources have enhanced my teacher toolkit. The lessons are well thought out to help students progress through the curriculum, particularly with the connections made between the recaps and the main learning objectives.”
