Our award-winning Resit Tuition Programme supports FE students who are retaking GCSE English or maths or studying Functional Skills to gain the confidence and knowledge they need to pass these gateway qualifications and unlock opportunities for further study or work.

The programme includes:

Weekly, small-group tutoring sessions that are tailored to students’ needs and complement classroom education.

The majority of our programmes are face-to-face, but can be delivered both in-person and online depending on the needs of your students and staff. Programmes can begin in either September or January, and colleges can opt for a combination of start dates if appropriate. Please get in touch using the form below for more information.

Highly-qualified tutors, selectively recruited by us and trained by expert teachers to deliver impactful sessions and boost engagement and motivation among students.

All our tutors must pass a subject test and have a strong subject specialism (at least an A-level or equivalent in English or maths or a related subject, and are in possession of or studying towards a degree). Our tutors are also screened for their communication and relationship-building skills, and empathy for learners. Successful candidates are then trained in subject specific pedagogy, including how to adapt resources to effectively tailor sessions to individual student needs.

All the workbooks and resources needed for programme delivery.

Our bespoke curriculum resources are designed and developed by teaching experts informed by insights from research in cognitive science. Sessions are sequenced to prioritise mastery of foundational knowledge and concepts before progressing in complexity. There is regular planned interleaving of topics to allow for retrieval practice; live modelling and scaffolding to support student understanding; and specific feedback and direction for improvement. The booklets are visually easy on the eye and straightforward to follow.

A dedicated Programme Coordinator to oversee programme delivery.

One of our dedicated Programme Coordinators will work closely with your team and take responsibility for tasks such as enrolment, timetabling sessions and other logistics, and they will carry out a research-informed engagement strategy to ensure student attendance on the programme remains high.  They will support tutors on the programme through regular observations, informal check-ins, and feedback. This keeps additional workload for your staff to a minimum while ensuring a high standard of delivery.

“Get Further is now an integrated part of our curriculum offer and has been well received by staff, students and parents. They have worked tirelessly with our team to ensure the highest standards of delivery. The tutors are welcoming, engaging and deliver a consistently high standard of teaching. Learners look forward to their sessions each week. They enjoy the small group dynamic and feel more confident and motivated in their subjects”.

Safeguarding

Get Further checks the background of all tutors and employees. We carry out enhanced DBS checks on all our staff and tutors and request checks against the barred list for working with children. We also check references for all those joining our tutor pool. We reject applicants for a role if the checks reveal any information that suggests they are unsuitable for the position.

All tutors complete training on safeguarding before they begin tutoring with Get Further. The training models what to do if they have a concern and tells them how to contact our Designated Safeguarding Officer. In addition, all tutors agree to follow the Get Further Code of Conduct (as set out in our safeguarding policy). All face-to-face tuition is delivered on-site at the college, which provides additional security to students and tutors.
