Becoming a tutor is an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on the life chances of students, helping them to improve their skills and achieve key qualifications that open doors for future study and work. This page is dedicated to outlining our requirements to tutor with us.
To become a tutor with Get Further, you will need…
GCSEs (or equivalent)
To tutor with us, you must have at least:
- Grade C/4 or equivalent in GCSE maths.
- Grade C/4 or equivalent in English.
We do accept overseas applications, we will check your qualifications once submitted. We ask that you complete your own research on this and use this guide to support you.
A-Levels (or equivalent) in a related subject
All tutors must have A-Levels (minimum grade B) or equivalent qualifications in a related subject. Guidance on the equivalent qualifications we accept can be found here. The subjects we accept can be viewed below:
English Tutors must have A-Levels (minimum grade B) or equivalent qualifications in:
- English language
- English literature
- Combined English literature and language
- Linguistics
- Journalism
Maths Tutors must have A-Levels (minimum grade B) or equivalent qualifications in:
- Maths
- Further Mathematics
- Maths and Statistics
- Statistics
- Economics Accountancy and Finance
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Engineering
A degree or predicted classification in a related subject
All Get Further tutors must have completed or be working towards a degree in a related subject. We look for a 2.1 degree or above and will consider 2.2 degrees on a case by case basis. The subjects we accept can be viewed below:
English Tutors must have or be working towards a degree in one of the following subjects:
- English Literature
- English Language
- Combined English
- Creative Writing
- Linguistics
- Journalism
You may be eligible if you have a degree in Law combined with two A Levels in humanities subjects.
Candidates with or working towards a joint honours degree must have a minimum of 50% English modules.
Maths Tutors must have or be working towards a degree in:

Right to work in the UK
You must have the right to work in the UK for the duration of your employment contract. We cannot sponsor visas, so you will need to have secured your own and provided the team with any restriction information.
